Weekly Entry - Oct. 22

Doing this entry two whole days late. In my defense, my laptop needs to be taken in to the computer doctor, so in that respect I feel like a late entry on my own journal is permitted.

I caught up a little bit with a friend of mine who seems to be doing very well. She mentioned that she would like to commission me for art of her fursona and told me that I needed to, at minimum, triple my current commission prices. It's something that's always been difficult for me since I first started trying to advertise my art, as I've almost exclusively only gotten commission offers when I was hosting them on Flight Rising for in-game currency. It's made me doubt my work a lot, but I imagine part of that also comes with having a following, which is its own hurdle to clear.

I got through Dirge of Cerberus and have been quite puzzled about it, because I think on it fondly, but as a game, it is simply a mess. I've been wondering how it could be remade. In the meantime, I've moved on to Final Fantasy IV, which I'm enjoying a lot and feeling extremely nostalgic about since my first Final Fantasy game was FFIII for the DS, and then moving on to the original game that Nintendo briefly made available via the Wii shop. I've yet to get through Mouthwashing, which I've finally gotten around to starting. I feel like I just only have the energy for it when I want to be doing other things, so I miss too much. I'm extremely fond of its visuals, though, and I'm probably going to try my hand at drawing something for it. Or, at least, I hope so.

Feeling Optimistic

Weekly Entry - Oct. 13

This is a day later than I intended. Oh well.

I did eventually get my car back, and she's just fine, but it took two days later than it should have because the tire wasn't going to be delivered on time and I had a burnt out tail light. The first half of this week has really been a series of "What else could go wrong?". I actually had to juggle the car I was loaned between myself and my father for a couple of days, too, but it was sort of nice because it was an excuse to see him for a little while. I'm glad Melville is back home, though.

Speaking of my father, he decided, on a whim, to give me his old television. It's much larger than the one I have from my grandfather, and exceptionally high-tech, so I'll have to figure out what to do with it. There are a lot of things that need arranging.

I had been planning on drawing some more this week, but I think the cord that my tablet uses to connect to my computer has officially given up. I'll have to find the energy to get a replacement soon (I'll have to find the energy to do a lot of things). I have a lot of things I want to draw but no way to draw them meaningfully, which is usually how it goes.

I'm grateful this week has been comparatively uneventful. The worst thing that's happened was getting overstimulated in a Trader Joe's. I'm really really excited about Pathologic 3 being announced, though! I'm going through Dirge of Cerberus again and realizing I haven't retained anything from going through it previously. Also trying to watch the 2022 reboot of Hellraiser. It's been fun but I need to watch more scary things to appreciate being halfway through October.

Feeling Lazy

Weekly Entry - Oct. 5

It has been quite a week.

Earlier on Tuesday, we watched the entirety of X-Men '97 immediately after finishing watching the original 90s X-Men Animated Series. '97 has a very interesting animation style somewhat reminiscent of Castlevania: Nocturne in its movement choices, but I couldn't exactly explain how or why. Most importantly, I've come out of watching '97 as an unabashed Magneto stan, which was evidently the point of the whole season. I'm curious if season 2 will feature the 2006 Milligan run, but I assume it has to considering how the very last episode ended.

Wednesday was very tame, and we got to go to Hobby Lobby. I was absolutely floored by the fall decor and kitchen things they have. I did nearly risk my wallet for a hedgehog-shaped dish sponge holder, but I think that's more than understandable. I wish I could better remember all the things they had on the shelves, but it's probably for the best that I can't so I don't try to go back there and buy everything up. We did however go to one of the fancier grocery stores and buy a lot of very delicious snacks. It was a really good day.

Less fortunately, yesterday an old ex-friend messaged me. The internet connection at home has been infuriatingly terrible, so I had that as an excuse not to talk to him, but curiosity got the better of me and I responded to him very shortly. I won't go into detail about what he needed, but it is expressly tiresome that he has not spoken to me in so long, and has only tired to contact me over the span of the last year three times and every time was to ask me to act as his therapist. I would like to block him and be done with it, but I am too worried about his mental state to do so. I just have to hope he will forget about me and get a grip.

This morning, I went to visit my parents for lunch (spaghetti bolognese with garlic bread) and catch up. They told me they've been continuing to hate-watch Rings of Power and we discussed our mutual dislike for it, and I was even gifted a bottle of my favorite drink, which is not sold in my city anywhere. On the drive home, though, Melville's tire finally gave up near the highway and I had to wait about two hours for her to get towed to a repair shop which was, ironically, not even a whole mile away, but too far to drive to safely. It took as long as it did because the dispatcher had sent the tow truck driver across town, even though I gave the correct address. My parents were kind enough to wait with me and loan me their car, and this exact same tire had been replaced a year ago, so the warranty was still in effect. I'm extremely grateful for the extra protection.

All in all, it has been not very busy this week, but the moments of interest were rather intense for me. I've gotten some ideas for new stickers to draw up, so hopefully I can try to make that happen this coming week.
